Music Room, London

The world-famous violinist Nigel Kennedy needed an extension adding to the 1850’s building that houses his personal music room. The original structure began life as a stables but was converted long ago, leaving the property with a distinctly disjointed feel.

The new design involves retaining the music room untouched, integrating an internal staircase, with additional living accommodation in a glass box extension. Among the remodelling elements required are floor strengthening, stabilisation of a substantial chimney stack and the creation of new openings to the glass box.

Due on site in September 2008.
